CASABLANCA
Effortless chic Parisian style and Moroccan style, these are the distinctive elements of Casablanca’s brand. Founded in 2018 by Charaf Tajer, co-founder at Pigalle and Virgil Abloh’s collaborator. The name “Casablanca” is a tribute to the place were his parents first met before moving to Paris, the city where Tajer was raised surrounded by fashion, art and architecture. This collection was inspired by all this elements.
Year after year, the brand made its way into the international fashion scene, increasingly defining a unique style with a tailored cut. Charaf himself, at the time of the brand's founding, had announced that he wanted to transform his brand into the new Parisian maison not to be missed. In January 2020 the brand also inaugurated its collaboration with New Balance, reinventing the famous 327 and XC-72.
“"The definition I would like to give to Casablanca is neoclassical” says Charaf, "because we are trying to crystallize the spirit of a timeless style in a modern key, for which we are inspired by everyday life, from the beautiful ladies who drink five o’clock tea at George V to the young tennis player. "
“After the rain comes the rainbow” is the name of the new Casablanca spring summer 2021 collection, a collection created to represent a moment of positivity after last year’s lockdown, which the designer spent in Hawaii. Flowers, rainbows and tropical landscapes invade shirts, suits and scarves of the brand with a 70s allure. Suddenly we find ourselves in a maritime and holiday landscape capable of making us travel with our minds to distant destinations.
The key word that defines the entire collection is comfort, but without giving up an unmistakable elegance also defined by fine materials such as cashmere and the silk of the tennis suits that refer to an après-sport aesthetic with colorful and floral prints. The brand notoriety has been boosted also by Chiara Ferragni, who wore the colorful pink “Casablanca tennis club” t-shirt with a tropical print from the SS21 collection.
