The origins of its name are hidden in its roots: Moncler, in fact, is the abbreviation of Monestier-de-Clermont, a mountain village near Grenoble. Here, in 1952, entrepreneurs René Ramillon and André Vincent founded the company, which would later begin producing its renowned down jackets. Initially, in fact, Moncler only produced quilted sleeping bags, a single model of hooded cape and tents with a telescopic structure. It was only in the 1980s that the brand, thanks to its original stitching and its lacquered effect, began its climb to success.
