THE ATTICO: NEAPOLIS
It’s in the unmistakable setting of Naples that The Attico presents its Fall Winter 2024 collection, dedicated to the fascinating Neapolitan city. “Neapolis” reflects the idea of femininity of the Milan-based brand, made of continuous contrasts: hard and soft, romance and seduction, polish and roughness. Naples, as explained by The Attico’s founders Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini, perfectly embodies this divisive spirit: a cultural crossroad full of life and energy, fragile in its strength and constantly dominated by the presence of a volcano.
Therefore, the collection is completely immersed in a Neapolitan scenario, touched by the intense light of the city. The woman of this season is inspired by the Partenope syren, becoming a seductive creature who makes everyone fall in love with her, an urban being who can come along as strong as in the apparent toughness of her tailored pieces, but who is actually full of romance and melancholy, fragile while she tries to hide from intruding gazes. The Attico keeps exploring the idea of multiplicity, but it does so by looking at the timeless modernity of antiquity, a trait that in Naples is very apparent.
Fluid drapings, very much present in the collection, embellish slinky dresses that move and flow around the body almost like water, recalling classical sculpture and the masterpiece of Cristo Velato, capable of dematerializing marble into muslin. The tailoring, in contrast, expresses a harder side, through bold trench coats and bombers in washed canvas with fur collars that give life to sturdy looks, while texture and movement become particularly important through fringes. The mood of the collection is feminine and seductive, but the expression is streamlined, stripped bare of all that is not necessary. The color palette is a mix of neutral and desaturated hues, accented with notes of flame red, bright pink, aqua and bright blue. This is The Attico in its natural habitat: Neapolis.
